Proyecto Mariposas In-school programming: Growing strong together
Proyecto Mariposas is creating safe and inspiring spaces for Latina girls to explore their identities, celebrate their heritage, and build confidence for the future.
“Proyecto Mariposas is more than a program—it’s a sisterhood. Together, we are building confidence, honoring culture, and creating a supportive community for Latina girls and the women who uplift them.”
How many schools & girls are involved?
For the 2025–2026 school year, Mariposas is partnering with 18 schools. Together, these schools will welcome nearly 400 Latina girls into the Mariposas family.
How do the girls feel about these sessions?
When we asked the girls how they feel during Mariposas sessions, here’s what they said:
Safe
Happy
Welcomed
Valued
Creative
Understood
These words remind us why Mariposas exists: to give girls a space where they can truly shine.
Who leads the sessions?
Each session is led by our dedicated Mariposas Leaders. They are joined by a strong circle of support that includes school advocates, teachers, social workers, and volunteers who ensure the girls feel uplifted, supported, and encouraged.
What topics are covered?
Our sessions are filled with meaningful and fun conversations, creative activities, and opportunities to learn together. In 2025, topics include:
Our Heritage
Self Confidence
Self Love
Social Media
Healthy Friendships
Teamwork
Identities
Creativity
What do the sessions cost?
Nothing.
All Mariposas in-school programs are completely free for students.
